This is an excerpt of a speech by Dwight D. Eisenhower given at the closing luncheon at the 25th annual Columbia Scholastic Press Association Convention in the Hotel Waldorf-Astoria, on Saturday, March 12, 1949. At the time, Eisenhower was serving as the president of Columbia University.
